Some of you have been asking when I’d get around to including some stories by Philip K. Dick on this site, and tonight your suspense is at an end – or, rather, it’s only beginning, since this tale, just like all of Dick’s other works, packs a pretty punch. Now I’m not particularly concerned about the type of equipment outlined in this tale (although I never really took a shine to it, and would never have one in my own home), there’s no doubt that Dick, who left us more than thirty years ago, saw a lot of scary things heading towards us from a long way off. Take this prediction, for instance, which I’ve hauled out again in time for the Snowden Era: There will come a time when it isn’t ‘They’re spying on me through my phone’ anymore. Eventually, it will be ‘My phone is spying on me’. That time, my friends, is today. Touché, Philip…
